Record #191597:

Hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria in contaminated cold soils / Jackie Aislabie, Julia Foght.

Title: Hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria in contaminated cold soils / Jackie Aislabie, Julia Foght.
Author(s): Aislabie, Jackie.
Foght, Julia.
Date: 2008.
Publisher: Cambridge: Cambridge University Press
In: Bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbons in cold regions. (2008.),
Abstract: Reviews literature describing hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria indigenous to cold soils, focusing on polar soils. Discusses adaptations to environmental parameters that challenge bacterial activity in situ, including cold and fluctuating temperatures, limited nutrient availability, extremes in pH and salinity, and dessication. Makes recommendation for determining whether a soil contains appropriate microbial community for applying bioremediation.
