Record #191596:
Movement of petroleum through freezing and frozen soils / David L. Barnes, Kevin Biggar.
Title: | Movement of petroleum through freezing and frozen soils / David L. Barnes, Kevin Biggar. |
Author(s): | Barnes, David L. Biggar, Kevin. |
Date: | 2008. |
Publisher: | Cambridge: Cambridge University Press |
In: | Bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbons in cold regions. (2008.), |
Abstract: | Reviews current knowledge and makes recommendations on bioremediation strategies. Discusses recent advances in: field observation of petroleum migration in unfrozen active layers, frozen active layers and permafrost, and theoretical models of petroleum movement on freezing and frozen soils. Advocates research into formation of preferential pathways, influence of ice formation on creation of disconnected zones with relatively high petroleum saturation, and effects of freezing on soil permeability in seasonally frozen ground. |
