| Abstract: | To aid study of winter survival of forage grasses under changing climate, describes new model that simultaneously simulates depths of snow, lower frost boundary of soil and freezing of surface puddles. Uses Bayesian methods to calibrate model for sites across Norway chosen to capture climate variation from south to north and from coastal to inland areas. Analyzes sensitivities to model parameters using Morris method. Discusses model results, identifying over-estimation of snow and frost depth due to model's simplicity, and discusses potential simplifications of snow cover, soil frost and surface ice modules. |
