Title, transliterated: Ot︠s︡enka izmeneniĭ snegozapasov na territorii Severnoĭ Evrazii v nachale XXI v. (na osnove modelʹnykh prognozov zimnikh temperatury i osadkov) / A.N. Krenke, T.B. Titkova.
Translated title: Assessment of snow storage changes in the territory of Northern Eurasia in the early 21st century (based on model projections of winter temperature and precipitation).
Author(s): Krenke, A. N.
Titkova, T. B.
Date: 2009.
Language: Russian.
In: Materialy Gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh Issledovaniĭ. (2009.), Vol. 107 (2009)
Abstract: Examines dependences of end-of-February snow storage on Nov-Feb average temperatures and precipitation sums during period 1966-2000. Using dependences for scales from subcontinent to discrete points, and meteorological characteristics and snow parameter values from several model scenarios, estimates future snow storage gains for each month. Suggests that snow storage in south of East European plain has peaked and will continue to decline to mid-21st century. Storage will remain around current peak in north of East European plain and in Far East, and grow in West and East Siberia, especially in Urals and along Arctic coast. Expects decline in western Siberia and Far East for last third of 21st century.
