Математическое моделирование в решении задач расчета и прогноза заторов льда

Title: Математическое моделирование в решении задач расчета и прогноза заторов льда
Title, transliterated: Matematicheskoe modelirovanie v reshenii zadach rascheta i prognoza zatorov lʹda / V.A. Buzin.
Translated title: Mathematical modeling in calculating and forecasting ice jams.
Author(s): Buzin, V. A.
Date: 2009.
Language: Russian.
In: Meteorologii︠a︡ i Gidrologii︠a︡. (2009.), Vol. 2 (2009)
Abstract: Reviews state of numerical modelling of river ice jams, describes models and algorithms, and discusses practical applications to forecasting of ice jam flooding. Notes that currently available models reflect only separate fragments of ice jamming phenomenon, such as ice cover break-up and ice jam formation and destruction. Summarises Debolskaya's one-dimensional model applicable to small narrow rivers, and discusses in more detail assumptions and mathematical treatments underpinning several models applicable to wide rivers. Concludes that knowledge of physics underlying ice jamming processes remains poorer than knowledge of numerical methods to solve resulting equations.
