Abstract: Summarises findings of environmental collaborative project between Russia and Norway investigating current state of Barents Sea region. Notes temperature increases and decrease in ice cover over last 30 years, decrease in some fish stocks owing to over-fishing, negative impact of bottom trawling on bottom-living organisms, and dramatic decline in some seabird species in south-western part of region.
