Record #191448:

A comparison of quantitative and qualitative superoxide dismutase assays for application to low temperature microalgae / Paul J. Janknegt, and 4 others.

Title: A comparison of quantitative and qualitative superoxide dismutase assays for application to low temperature microalgae / Paul J. Janknegt, and 4 others.
Author(s): Janknegt, Paul J.
Date: 2007.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
Abstract: Describes method for determination of antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD), which plays key role in removal of reactive oxygen species produced during visible and ultraviolet irradiance stress in Antarctic microalgae and plants, based on comparing and optimizing existing protein extraction procedures and SOD assays in marine Antarctic diatom Chaetoceros brevis. Results show that NitroBlue Tetrozolium/Riboflavin (NBT/RF) assay is most reliable for measuring SOD activity in marine Antarctic microalgae within large temperature range.
