Record #191319:

The geomorphic and sedimentary record of glaciation on high latitude continental margins with particular reference to the northeast Svalbard margin Kelly Hogan.

Title: The geomorphic and sedimentary record of glaciation on high latitude continental margins with particular reference to the northeast Svalbard margin Kelly Hogan.
Author(s): Hogan, Kelly.
Date: 2008.
Abstract: Presents analysis of comprehensive geophysical dataset from continental shelf of north-eastern Svalbard to investigate seafloor geomorphic and sedimentary records of glaciation in area. Uses high-resolution swath bathymetric data together with co-located 3.5 kHz sub-bottom profiler records and geological core records to characterise and map submarine glacigenic landforms. Uses process-based interpretations to group these data into sediment-landsystem models which are then employed to reconstruct former ice sheet behaviour and dynamics during Late Weichselian period. Also considers TOBI side-scan dataset collected over Hinlopen Slide scar, providing detailed imagery of giant submarine slope failure, offering new insights into composition of slide scarps and deposits and small-scale post-slide processes. Also analyses a 3D seismic dataset from Murzuq Basin, Libya, imaging a Late Ordovician glacigenic succession. Uses several case studies to explore sedimentary and geomorphic records of glaciation.
