Abstract: | Considers political, economic and environmental issues relating to oil exploration in North. Exploratory drilling has begun off Disko Island, west Greenland. Greenlanders hope for substantial royalties from offshore oil and gas projects to achieve economic independence from Denmark. Meanwhile, Nunavut authorities intend to review policies on offshore drilling practices, as consequence of oil spill disaster in Gulf of Mexico. |
