Abstract: Presents two case studies from hydrocarbon-contaminated sites in northern Canada, in which laboratory-scale feasibility study was used to evaluate possibility of biotreatment of contaminated soils under conditions normally encountered at sites. Also reports use of numerous culture-dependent and culture-independent microbiological techniques to monitor bioremediation performance during field trials and full-scale treatment to ensure that treatment system is meeting desired objectives.
