Record #191100:

Potential for microbial biodegradation of polychlorinated biphenyls in polar environments / Angelina Lo Giudice, Vivia Bruni, Luigi Michaud.

Title: Potential for microbial biodegradation of polychlorinated biphenyls in polar environments / Angelina Lo Giudice, Vivia Bruni, Luigi Michaud.
Author(s): Giudice, Angelina Lo.
Bruni, Vivia.
Michaud, Luigi.
Date: 2009.
Publisher: London: Taylor & Francis
In: Polar microbiology : the ecology, biodiversity and bioremediation potential of microorganisms in extremely cold environments. (2009.),
Abstract: Reviews polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and their degradation. Discusses PCB occurrence in polar environments and potential for their removal by Arctic and Antarctic bacteria, as well as by psychrotolerant microbes from temperate environments. Also discusses abiotic factors (differences in physical and chemical environmental variables) that influence effectiveness of treatment of PCB-contaminated area with enrichment cultures of PCB-degrading microorganisms.
