Record #191077:

The legacy of aqueous environments on soils of the McMurdo Dry Valleys: contexts for future exploration of martian soils / J.E. Barrett, and 3 others.

Title: The legacy of aqueous environments on soils of the McMurdo Dry Valleys: contexts for future exploration of martian soils / J.E. Barrett, and 3 others.
Author(s): Barrett, J. E.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: Cambridge: Cambridge University Press
In: Life in Antarctic deserts and other cold dry environments : astrobiological analogues. (2010.),
Abstract: Reviews research describing contemporary patterns of soil geochemistry and discusses possible mechanisms behind their formation. Briefly assesses similarities and dissimilarities in McMurdo Dry Valleys and martian soil environments, and describes contemporary and palaeo-influences of surface water on soil geochemistry and distribution and activity of biota, illustrating how spatial variation in surface soil chemistry can be used to interpret landscape history and provide context for interpretation of ancient water bodies on Mars.
