Record #191071:

Micro- and macrovascular complications among Greenlanders and Danes with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Nuuk, Greenland / Michael Lynge Pedersen.

Title: Micro- and macrovascular complications among Greenlanders and Danes with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Nuuk, Greenland / Michael Lynge Pedersen.
Author(s): Pedersen, Michael Lynge.
Date: 2010.
In: International Journal of Circumpolar Health. (2010.), Vol. 69(2) (2010)
Abstract: Presents results of observational and cross-sectional study (based on medical records and interviews from patients) of prevalence of micro- and macrovascular complications and risk factors among Greenlanders and Danes with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Greenland. Finds that majority of Greenlandic patients (57%) were diagnosed within last 3 years, which may indicate either beginning of epidemic or increased awareness of T2DM, or both. High prevalence of microvascular complications and risk factors such as smoking and microalbuminuria are matters of concern.
