Abstract: Presents analysis of communities of algae and cyanobacteria on two glaciers (Qaanaaq and Russell) in west Greenland. Finds that algal and cyanobacterial communities differ between glaciers and that amount of biomass is higher on colder glacier (Qaanaaq). Community on Qaanaaq is composed mainly of green algae, while that on Russell is dominated by cyanobacteria. Discusses possible effects of temperature, nutrient concentration, and cryoconite holes on community structure and productivity.
