Abstract: | Describes novel ideas of nordicity as explored in Françoise Sullivan's choreographic work Danse dans la neige (as filmed by Maurice Perron in 1948). Sullivan was one of group of dissident artists from Montreal, who styled themselves Les Automatistes, and were influenced by surrealism and its theory of automatism. Her work broke with conventional representations of space, and is now seen as precursor of post-modernism. |
