Record #190500:
The first Holocene relative sea-level curve from the middle part of Hardangerfjorden, western Norway / Anders Romundset.
Title: | The first Holocene relative sea-level curve from the middle part of Hardangerfjorden, western Norway / Anders Romundset. |
Author(s): | Romundset, Anders. |
Date: | 2010. |
In: | Boreas. (2010.), Vol. 39(1) (2010) |
Abstract: | Presents first relative sea level (RSL) curve from mid-Hardangerfjorden area covering entire Holocene. Record is based on series of AMS ¹⁴C dates on terrestrial plant macrofossils across isolation level in each of five lakes located between 3.5 m and 74.5 m a.s.l. Describes rapid fall in RSL during first 1000 years from marine limit at 98 m a.s.l. to 33 m a.s.l., followed by emergence slowing to standstill 8-6.5 kyr BP, since when total emergence has been 16.5 m. Uses radiocarbons dates from terrestrial plant microfossils to place local ice margin retreat at 11,300 cal.yr BP, verifying that Hardangerfjord was deglaciated during Younger Dryas. |
