| Abstract: | Presents seismic profiles and gravity core data from Nordfjorden, western Norway and interprets these to better understand fjord-infill sedimentation in high-relief areas and deglaciation history of study area. Investigates influences of deglaciation dynamics, basin morphology, different gravitational activities and glacio-static rebound. Identifies up to 360 m of sediments deposited in 135 km fjord system, with first ice marginal deposits formed around 12,300 ¹⁴C years BP. Documents sediment deposition during Allerød, Younger Dryas and succeeding retreat, slides and resedimentation, particularly during rapid glacial rebound of late Younger Dryas and following rock avalanche around 2,000 ¹⁴C yr BP. |
