Ecosystem impact of large whales in the North Pacific / Donald A. Croll, Raphael Kudela, Bernie R. Tershy.
Title: | Ecosystem impact of large whales in the North Pacific / Donald A. Croll, Raphael Kudela, Bernie R. Tershy. |
Author(s): | Croll, Donald A. Kudela, Raphael. Tershy, Bernie R. |
Date: | 2007. |
Publisher: | Berkeley, CA: University of California Press |
In: | Whales, whaling and ocean ecosystems. (2007.), |
Abstract: | Assesses potential trophic impact of historical removal of large whales from North Pacific pelagic ecosystem. Uses estimates of prey biomass consumption rates for each whale species, estimates of pre- and post-exploitation whale populations, estimates of trophic level and trophic transfer efficiencies, and estimates of net primary production of ecosystem. |
Notes: | In: Whales, whaling and ocean ecosystems / J.A. Estes, and 4 others, eds. |
