Record #190274:

Understanding and planning for climate change in Nunavut / Hata Dowlatabadi, Michelle Boyle, Susan Rowley.

Title: Understanding and planning for climate change in Nunavut / Hata Dowlatabadi, Michelle Boyle, Susan Rowley.
Author(s): Dowlatabadi, Hata.
Boyle, Michelle.
Rowley, Susan.
Date: 2009.
In: Meridian. (2009.), Fall/Winter (2009)
Abstract: Examines resources and autonomy available to communities in Arctic Canada to adapt to climate change and to cope with many other external and internal pressures. Authors' collaborations with numerous communities in Nunavut reveal that, while concern about climate change is prevalent, many more damaging pre-existing concerns remain to be addressed and should take precedence. Also, communities lack resources, institutional capacity and expertise to employ long-term strategic planning processes to plan and execute effective climate change adaptation measures.
