| Abstract: | Reviews history of dispute between adherents of Robert Peary and Frederick Cook as to who reached North Pole first. Consensus among modern polar experts is that Peary got closer than Cook, but not to North Pole. Notes that Peary's photographs proving his location have been criticised by experts. Some have also suggested that Peary failed to take longitude observations so as to leave no paper trail of route. |
