Title: Facing the impact of global climate change: recommendations from the Arctic / Aqqaluk Lynge.
Author(s): Lynge, Aqqaluk.
Date: 2009.
Publisher: Paris: UNESCO
In: Climate change and Arctic sustainable development : scientific, social, cultural and educational challenges. (2009.),
Abstract: Reviews current state of knowledge about effects of climate change in Arctic. Notes that Inuit villages are already being destroyed by erosion resulting from higher waves, retreating sea ice and melting permafrost. Argues that Inuit capacity to achieve sustainable development in face of climate change is dependent on progress towards autonomy and self-government; also that it is essential for Inuit to be included, as active partners, in all future international and domestic policy-making for Arctic.
