Record #190035:

Arctic change in the flow of global warming: need for long-term monitoring observations / Takashi Yamanouchi.

Title: Arctic change in the flow of global warming: need for long-term monitoring observations / Takashi Yamanouchi.
Author(s): Yamanouchi, Takashi.
Date: 2009.
Publisher: Paris: UNESCO
In: Climate change and Arctic sustainable development : scientific, social, cultural and educational challenges. (2009.),
Abstract: Discusses abrupt warming in Arctic over past 30 years, apparent in several climate processes (including air temperature rise, ground temperature rise, and decrease in extent of sea ice). Compares with large Arctic warming event between 1920s-1940s for which several explanations have been offered, but no single cause identified. Argues that observing systems for monitoring change are essential for validation and improving predictions.
