Title: Nematode assemblages of hair-grass (Deschampsia spp.) microhabitats from polar and alpine deserts in the Arctic and Antarctic / V. Peneva, and 4 others.

Abstract: Compares structural and functional parameters of nematode assemblages from Deschampsia microhabitats of polar deserts in Arctic and Antarctic, as well as from nival mountainous habitats in southern Taymyr Peninsula, Siberia. Common features of all communities were: low taxonomic richness; equal degrees of faunal similarity between different localities, both in Arctic and Antarctic communities; variability of dominance structure; overall dominance of bacterial feeders, followed by omnivorous nematodes and fungal feeders; very low percentages of predatory or parasitic nematodes of higher plants; and comparatively well-structured food webs.
