Abstract: Explores relationship between sport, culture and tourism. Sporting events are seen as having potential to function as culturally based tourist attractions in northern Canada but, like most culturally based attractions, there are difficulties in ensuring that events are sustainable and do not destroy or compromise traditional culture they are intended to celebrate.
