Tolerance to sand burial, trampling and drought of two subarctic coastal plant species (Leymus mollis and Trisetum spicatum) / Stéphane Boudreau, Julie Faure-Lacroix.
Title: | Tolerance to sand burial, trampling and drought of two subarctic coastal plant species (Leymus mollis and Trisetum spicatum) / Stéphane Boudreau, Julie Faure-Lacroix. |
Author(s): | Boudreau, Stéphane. Faure-Lacroix, Julie. |
Date: | 2009. |
In: | Arctic. (2009.), Vol. 62(4) (2009) |
Abstract: | Evaluates tolerance (emergence and biomass production) of two sub-Arctic coastal plant species (Leymus mollis and Trisetum spicatum) to sand burial, trampling and drought (major constraints to plant colonisation in village of Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuarapik in northern Quebec). Finds both species withstand trampling, L. mollis tolerates moderate burial intensity, but neither species tolerates moderate and high drought intensities (suggesting that watering needs to be included in any restoration initiatives). |
