| Abstract: | Uses macrocirculation model, based on B.I. Dzerdzeyevsky's classification of atmospheric processes, to reconstruct 20th mass balance dynamics of Arctic glaciers. Investigates association of glacier-atmosphere energy and mass exchange regimes (corresponding to different types of elementary circulation mechanisms) with glacier mass balance dynamics. Determines proportional contribution of each elementary circulation mechanism to mass balance deviations from long term mean and reconstructs mass balances of: Engabreen (Norway), Störglaciaren (Sweden), Midre Lovenbreen, Austre Brøggerbreen and Voringbreen (Svalbard), IGAN (Russian Polar Urals) and Devon Ice Cap (Canada) |
