| Abstract: | Investigates surface melting and routing of meltwater on western margin of Greenland Ice Sheet around Paakitsoq. Uses numerical model to investigate inception and evolution of supraglacial lakes during 2008 ablation season and compares results with Landsat-7 ETM satellite imagery. Interprets supraglacial hydrological features from satellite imagery and combines with DEM to analyze surface drainage network and lake volumes. Describes meteorological data input and surface energy balance model used to predict lake hydrological inputs. Evaluates modelling and discusses implications of results for ice sheet dynamics. |
