| Abstract: | Investigates local-scale structural variability of boreal old-growth forests on Hylocomium-Myrtillus site type. Principal component analysis reveals that main directions of structural and compositional variability are related to variables describing total volume of coarse woody debris, volumes of living and dead Pinus sylvestris and volume of deciduous coarse woody debris. Results demonstrate high variability in structure and composition of old-growth forests on northern boreal mesic Hylocomium-Myrtillus site type. This variability should be taken into account in forest restoration and management at landscape level. |
