Abstract: Describes BEST-BSIERP Bering Sea project, six-year ecosystem study. Study aims to improve understanding of effects of climate change on ecosystem and consequences of changes on trophic levels for fish, seabirds, marine mammals and humans. Project addresses three major themes: control of production in changing environment; competition among consumers (testing hypothesis that short-term winners will be out-competed by medium-term winners); and location research (effect of climate driven change on place-based foragers).
