| Abstract: | Reports application of widely used elastic-viscous-plastic elliptical rheology dynamic sea-ice model to ice bridge in narrow channel of Nares Strait below Kane Basin. Idealised case is tested over range of values for e = [1.2, 2.0] and initial ice thickness from 0.75 to 3.5 m., using constant northerly winds over period of 30 days, to evaluate long-term stability of different rheological parameterizations. Idealised high-resolution simulations show formation of stable ice bridge to be possible for e < 1.8. Studies dependence of solution in terms of grid discretization with domain rotated 45°. Also tests realistic domain with realistic forcing to compare time-variant solutions to actual observations. |
