Record #188627:

Using a video camcorder to quantify spatial association between seabirds and their prey / Richard R. Veit, Jarrod A. Santora, Harold Owen.

Title: Using a video camcorder to quantify spatial association between seabirds and their prey / Richard R. Veit, Jarrod A. Santora, Harold Owen.
Author(s): Veit, Richard R.
Santora, Jarrod A.
Owen, Harold.
Date: 2008.
In: Marine Ornithology. (2008.), Vol. 36(2) (2008)
Abstract: Describes use of video camcorder and echo-sounding transducer to sample plankton abundance at ocean's surface near Elephant Island, Antarctica, in December 2003. Analysis of results indicates that camcorder and transducer ought to be used simultaneously to sample seabird prey, as camcorder most faithfully records prey for surface-feeding birds, whereas acoustic methods are more suitable for sampling prey of diving birds, especially penguins.
