| Abstract: | Reports results of six years of opportunistic censuses by researchers placed on tour ships in Maritime Antarctica as part of Antarctic Site Inventory project. Reports new breeding colonies of gentoo penguins in Yalour Islands, Galindez Island and Cape Tuxen, extending southernmost breeding range of this species which is expanding and increasing its population throughout Antarctic Peninsula. Includes report on continuing population decline of Adélie penguins in Antarctic Peninsula region; and site at Booth Island where all three pygoscelid penguins nest contiguously. |
