Ancient wild reindeer pitfall trapping systems as indicators for former migration patterns and habitat use in the Dovre region, southern Norway / Per Jordhøy.
Title: | Ancient wild reindeer pitfall trapping systems as indicators for former migration patterns and habitat use in the Dovre region, southern Norway / Per Jordhøy. |
Author(s): | Jordhøy, Per. |
Date: | 2008. |
In: | Rangifer. (2008.), Vol. 28(1) (2008) |
Abstract: | Identifies and measures two pitfall trapping systems, totalling 1,547 individual pitfalls, in Dovre area, southern Norway. Distribution of ancient pitfall trap systems suggests extensive regional migration of reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) between seasonal pastures. Migration routes were funnelled by natural barriers across high, rolling mountain plateau. |
