Abstract: Presents comparison of duplicate samples of blood from 18 reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) that were preserved either by immediate freezing or by immersion in 70% ethanol. Finds no differences in values of δ¹³C and δ¹⁵N between methods of preservation. Concludes that ethanol appears to be effective and efficient method for preserving blood samples for stable isotope analysis under field conditions.
