Abstract: Examines regional patterns and temporal trends of suicides in Finnish Lapland using population-based ecological mortality study. Finds that male suicides are excessively common in Lapland compared with national level, and that they concentrate in geographically contiguous area in central north and in two towns. Findings encourage local studies to investigate underlying causal factors.
