Abstract: Calculates work of formation of nucleus of new phase (elongate or oblate spheroid shape) during condensation of supercooled water vapour in electric fields of ions. Compares with experimental data for special case of spherical nucleus. Demonstrates that model under consideration agrees better with experiment than classical model of heterogeneous nucleation near ions.
