Abstract: Uses GIS tools to integrate satellite image analysis and existing field measurements and create spatially continuous information on sediment transport rates and sediment budgets in periglacial environment of Kärkevagge region of northern Sweden. Processes of interest include mass movements such as solifluction, slope wash, dirty avalanches and rock and boulder falls. Derives geomorphic process units in order to allow quantification using GIS at catchment scale and uses field-observed mass movement rates in budget calculations. Finds that 80% of Kärkevagge catchment is sediment source area or zone of deposition.
