Abstract: Uses 2-D resistivity profiling to investigate push moraine deposited by surging Paulabreen. Compares resistivities obtained from six longitudinal and transverse profiles on moraine with data from three boreholes. Four profiles indicate that inner moraine is ice-cored, with buried glacier ice over 30 m thick. Transverse profile shows evidence of basal crevasses near former glacier margin. Three profiles cross margin onto proglacial plain. Reports low resistivities where field observations indicate that plain consists of marine muds with high salt content. Proposes new interpretation, in which landform originated from sediments extruded from below (or pushed in front of) glacier at surge terminus and deposited as debris flow.
