Abstract: Uses results of sonar surveys on Atlantic Canadian shelves to identify four submarine glacial landsystems diagnostic of Late Wisconsinan ice-sheet dynamics. Describes landsystems (defined as assemblages of geomorphic elements indicating a particular suite of glacial processes) identified with Bay of Fundy, German Bank, Placentia Bay and south coast of Newfoundland. Finds these consistent with existing conceptual model for region showing Late Wisconsinan ice advance to shelf edges, rapid calving retreat along deepwater channels and slower retreat of ice margins grounded in shallow water. Identifies emerging parallels with style of deglaciation of Last British Ice Sheet.
