Record #188294:

Laboratory experiments on the interaction of a buoyant coastal current with a canyon: application to the East Greenland Current / David A. Sutherland, Claudia Cenedese.

Title: Laboratory experiments on the interaction of a buoyant coastal current with a canyon: application to the East Greenland Current / David A. Sutherland, Claudia Cenedese.
Author(s): Sutherland, David A.
Cenedese, Claudia.
Date: 2009.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2009.), Vol. 39(5) (2009)
Abstract: Presents set of laboratory experiments examining how buoyant coastal current flowing over sloping bottom interacts with canyon, and what controls separation, if any, of current from upstream canyon head. Results show that separation of buoyant coastal current depends on current width relative to radius of curvature of bathymetry. Experiments extend previous work by examining both slope-controlled and surface-trapped currents, and by using geometry specific to investigation of buoyant current-canyon interaction.
