| Abstract: | Quantifies response to climate warming of active layer and upper 10 m of ice-rich permafrost of inter-alas agricultural landscapes of Central Yakutiya (Sakha Republic). Observations over period 1985-2007 show 1-2°C ground temperature increase, permafrost degradation of 0.03-0.20 m/yr, formation of residual thaw layer, and lowering of permafrost table by 5 m or more. Reports that active layer thickness in natural landscapes shows slow increasing trend (0.01-0.02 m/yr), whereas ice-rich permafrost remains relatively stable. |
