| Abstract: | Analyzes relationships between mean annual soil temperature at 1.6 m depth, air freezing index and snow depth, using data from 40 meteorological stations in Yakutiya (Sakha Republic). Discusses relationships in regional groups, according to direction of soil temperature trend. Attributes soil cooling in high-latitude lowlands to changes in snow cover, and soil warming in some regions to weakening of Asian anticyclone in winter. In mountainous regions, soil temperature is falling in cold landscapes and rising in warm landscapes due to local factors. |
