Abstract: Discusses special requirements for calculating snow slope pressures in warm and snowy areas such as Japan, so as to anticipate changes in snow conditions due to global warming. Reports measurements of creep and glide pressures onto snow fences located on seven avalanche release slopes in snowy areas. Compares these with snow pressures calculated using method based on standard used in Switzerland. Concludes that this method is also appropriate for regions of high snow accumulation.
