| Abstract: | Presents first spatially enhanced MODIS clear-sky mosaic for Arctic circumpolar zone. Describes fusing of data from MODIS bands B1-B2 observed at 250 m spatial resolution with bands B3-B7 (500 m resolution) to achieve 250 m resolution required by Global Climate Observing System for satellite-based products for climate studies. Fusion is based on adaptive regression and normalisation to preserve image radiometric properties. Also describes use of new cloud and cloud shadow detection method and clear-sky compositing scheme. Intends that major application will be mapping of surface albedo at 250 m resolution. |
