Abstract: Presents high-resolution ice-surface elevation maps derived from Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS) using geostatistical analysis. Compares representations of geographic and morphologic features in maps based on ERS-1 radar altimeter data and GLAS data, demonstrating greater precision and accuracy of laser altimeter in topographically complex coastal areas and ice sheet margin. Maps elevation changes over period 1995-2003, showing that thinning rates have been increasing and attributing changes to internal processes related to dynamic thinning.
