Abstract: | Considers serious environmental problem of sulphur dioxide disposal at plants of Norilsk Nickel Company and possibility of sulphur dioxide recovery using liquid SO₂ generation and disposal of excess in geological structures in permafrost areas. Shows that option would allow use of exhaust SO₂ in required volumes to achieve ecologically safe level. Geological analysis identifies section on northwestern limb of Vologochanskaya syncline, 30 km west of Norilsk, as most favourable area for disposal of excess liquid SO₂. |
