Abstract: Discusses present role of pilot whale (Globicephala melas) drive hunt in Faroese daily life. Notes that every citizen of Faroe Islands is supplied with 10 kilos of food (equally divided between meat and blubber) from whale harvest each year; also that hunting continues to play important social role in Faroese society as result of continuing distribution of harvest to all citizens. Also outlines history of whaling in Faroe Islands, whaling techniques, and current regulations.
