Record #187943:

Seasonal variation in gross ecosystem production, plant biomass, and carbon and nitrogen pools in five High Arctic vegetation types / M.F. Arndal, and 5 others.

Title: Seasonal variation in gross ecosystem production, plant biomass, and carbon and nitrogen pools in five High Arctic vegetation types / M.F. Arndal, and 5 others.
Author(s): Arndal, M. F.
Date: 2009.
In: Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2009.), Vol. 41(2) (2009)
Abstract: Presents investigation of plant biomass production throughout entire growing season in five different High Arctic vegetation types: Cassiope, Dryas and Salix heaths, grassland and fen. Focuses on gross ecosystem production (GEP) and biotic and abiotic factors which may influence GEP. Finds large differences in seasonal growth and production with and among vegetation types. Fen, which has highest leaf nitrogen, leaf chlorophyll and moss nitrogen content per unit ground area, is also most productive type in terms of GEP.
