| Abstract: | Explores structure of and recent developments in research activities in polar regions. Presents analysis of trends in publication, scientific disciplines and sub-disciplines, co-authorship, and international collaboration within field of polar research. Analysis is based on bibliographic study of published papers indexed in ISI Web of Science during period 1981-2007. Finds that scientific output in terms of refereed publications has increased far more rapidly in polar research than in science in general. |
