Abstract: Investigates controls on spatial and temporal trends in sub-surface CO₂ and CH₄ production and on transport and release of gases from soil observed in Zackenbergdalen. Finds that sub-surface temperatures are major environmental driver for temporal variations in sub-surface gas production and consequently - at least during growing season - main factor controlling soil gas emissions; also that soil water condition is another important environmental driver.
